As we are getting closer to the end of the year, we would like to sincerely thank our partners and supporters for your ongoing support and dedication. Your help has been invaluable in allowing us, from late 2021 to date, delivering over $3 million worth of essential aid to newly arrived refugees and those facing severe risk of homelessness.

With your help, we’ve supported and resettled 6,430 newly arrived refugees, providing them with the essentials to start their new lives. We’ve also run hundreds of workshops to help them integrate into Australian society. We’re incredibly proud of these achievements, made possible by the tireless efforts of our volunteers without any government funding support for our resettlement services.

We know that successful integration is vital for newly arrived refugees to settle, thrive, and understand life in Australia. This proactive approach helps create harmony and understanding while preventing issues like violence, social tension, and mental health struggles in the community.

Moving forward, Bakhtar Community Organisation is rolling out a new strategy to further support these individuals. We’re introducing compulsory programs such as cultural awareness sessions, employment pathway programs, and focus groups as part of our aid program. To ensure they receive the full benefit of our support, attendance at these sessions will be required for all refugees on our list or referred by partner organisations. These sessions will run on a weekly basis at our office in Hallam.

As our valued partner, we ask that you let any refugees you refer to us know about this requirement. We also have an updated referral document available, so please reach out if you need a copy.

Thank you again for your ongoing support and partnership.
